Alexis Milligan is an acclaimed actor, movement specialist and director with a number of awards and nominations to her name. She is a noted artist and has created choreography and movement for many theatre companies in Halifax and Toronto. She was an Apprentice Movement Coach for The Stratford Festival of Canada and is the staging consultant for Christopher Norton’s Micro-Musical Series (Boosey&Hawkes). She has spent seven seasons with Two Planks and Passion Theatre including 18 months as Director-in-Residence, Rosalind As You Like It (Merritt Nominee – Best Actress), Sissa, Beowulf (Merritt Nominee – Best Supporting Actress) and co-creator 937 (Winner – Fringe Hit and Best Drama Atlantic Fringe Festival 2013).
Alexis is a long-time company member with internationally acclaimed puppet theatre Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia, and was a principal puppeteer on CBC’s You & Me and The Mighty Jungle (Gemini Award: Best Pre-School Production). Other Film/TV credits include: Seed (ACTRA Award Nominee – Best Actress); Some Things Won’t Sleep (Foglight Productions); mr. d (CBC); Blackbird (A71 Productions/Jason Buxton), and Haven (SyFy/Showcase). Her directing credits include: How Often Do I Dream…(Winner – Best Solo Show Atlantic Fringe Festival 2014); Avenue Q, 13, Into The Woods (Neptune Theatre School); Fishing (Off The Leash Creative Ltd.).
Alexis is the founding director of Transitus, a multi-disciplinary arts based organization specializing in non-verbal communication.
