Meredith Zwicker is an actor, music director, and arts educator based in Antigonish NS. Raised in Lunenburg, Meredith is delighted to return to Nova Scotia after living, performing, and teaching across the country for the past two decades. She has taught acting, voice, and music at institutions throughout Canada including the Canadian College of Performing Arts, York University, Thorneloe University, Sacred Heart School of Halifax, the Sudbury Theatre Centre, and Neptune Theatre.
Meredith’s very first job was teaching musical theatre at the Chester Playhouse at the ripe old age of 16, and since then she has enjoyed teaching students of all ages and skill levels from beginner to professional. Dividing her professional career between acting and music direction has given her a unique approach to her teaching and a great love of building confidence and fostering creativity in her students.
Most recently, Meredith music directed The Sound of Music at Western Canada Theatre and Mamma Mia at the Chemainus Theatre Festival. Other favourite shows as an actor and music director include: A Christmas Carol (Orillia Opera House); Les Liaisons Dangereuses (Sudbury Theatre Centre); The River (Magnus Theatre); Frankenstein, Private Lives (Theatre New Brunswick); Musical Pawns (Frigid-New York), Seven (Theatre Passe Muraille), Samaria (Das Letzte Kleinod-Germany); Spamalot, Chigago, Noises Off (Stephenville); The Sound of Music, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Gypsy (Neptune Theatre).
Meredith holds an M.F.A. in Acting from York University and a B.A. with Combined Honours in Theatre and Music from Dalhousie University.
