Sheila Aucoin is a passionate choral and music educator. She directs the North Nova Education Centre choral program and is musical director of NNEC’s yearly musical productions. Sheila studied voice at Acadia University before completing her Bachelor of Music Education and Masters in Music Education at Memorial University. She is Vice Chair of the Nova Scotia Music Education Council, a member of the Nova Scotia Choral Federation’s School Task Force, and an active advocate for music education both provincially and nationally.
Fueled by her own musical experiences in this community, Sheila developed a provincial-winning middle school choral program at New Glasgow Academy before taking the reins at NNEC, leading the high school program through the challenges of COVID-19 and leading both the NNEC Concert Choir and Changed Voices Choir to the National Music Festival in 2023.
Sheila is also the artistic director of the New Glasgow Youth Choir, a burgeoning community youth choir bringing together singers in grades 6-9.
