Heather is a dynamic and energetic music educator specializing in choral activities. A graduate of both Acadia and McGill Universities, Heather has recently returned to NS from teaching music and studying choral conducting in London, England. While living in Montreal, Heather was both a singer and apprentice conductor with Iwan Edwards for his Saint Lawrence Choir (the amateur core of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Chorus) and Concerto Della Donna, an award winning women’s choir. She has also worked with the Montreal Children’s Chorus, and has studied with Dr. Julia Davids and Michael Zaugg. Heather is now Assistant Conductor and Accompanist of the Annapolis Valley Honour Choir and Camerata Xara Young Women’s Choir. As the new Program Director for the Nova Scotia Choral Federation and as a “Perform!” clinician, Heather is excited to work with children in a variety of musical contexts, ranging from one day workshops, to a weekly school choir, to collaboration with neighbouring schools. She is also interested in educating classroom teachers and administrators on how and why to use music across the curriculum, and in giving them the tools to develop a vibrant singing culture within their school community.
