Tara Taylor is the Co-founder and Festival Director for The Emerging Lens Film Festival, filmmaker, playwright, actress, multidisciplinary artist and singer. A graduate of the Centre for Art Tapes’ media scholarship program, Tara has screened her short films in various places, casted local talent in features and TV shows and has coordinated youth media arts video camps. She has produced and directed Dreamgirls, The Color Purple, The Wiz and Viola: The Musical. Tara has created two original musicals, Hood Habits and Love, Peace and Hairgrease, both which premiered in 2022. By day, Tara is a project manager and creative entrepreneur, and by night a mom to four beautiful children. Her vision for upcoming filmmakers, artists and musicians from marginalized and underrepresented communities is to see them continue in the industry professionally and successfully.
